    The First Thursday of Pascha

the Fifth Thursday of Resurrection Is Known

The first #Thursday of #Pascha The fifth Thursday of Resurrection is known as "Adam Thursday". Our father Adam, the first man, and the mother of us all, Eve, were filled with happiness and joy in the Garden of Eden until they were expelled due to their disobedience to God's commands. They repented of their sins and begged for forgiveness. God made a promise to Adam that after five and a half days, He would be born from his grandson and be crucified to save mankind by His death. This day is remembered as the memorial of Adam. (Mark 4:24-28) According to the Orthodox Church's teachings, a thousand years are like one day in God's eyes, which means that 5500 years is like five and a half days. As David said in his psalm, "A thousand years have passed before you, she is as diligent as yesterday and as night" (Ps 89:4). Saint Peter also taught that "with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day" (2 Pet 3:8). Therefore, we remember and commemorate Adam's promise and the fulfillment of this Holy mystery on this day. The main reason why Christ became a man is because of Adam and our mother Eve's prayer and repentance. Friday is the day Adam and Eve came out of Hell, but we celebrate Adam Thursday because it is the day when the promise made to Adam was fulfilled. Friday is also the day when the whole world was saved because of the crucifixion of Christ. Counting from Sunday to Thursday, it is five days, which means that at the end of five and a half days (5500), God's promise to Adam was fulfilled. Adam, the first man, and the father of all mankind, was created on the sixth day, and all the descendants of mankind were derived from him. We remember that after living in mourning for 5500 years, the promise made to Adam has been fulfilled. Adam Thursday commemorates the liberation of Adam from his children by Christ's death and resurrection. After spending seven years in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were expelled because they disobeyed God's commands and accepted the advice of the enemy. They lost the joy they enjoyed in paradise and were forced to live in a land of thorns and thistles. Adam's grief was strong, but he did not complain about the pleasure he was doing in heaven. Instead, he said, "My Lord, I have broken the commandment and lost my place in heaven." As Orthodox people, we have also broken God's commandments, transgressed from the law, and sinned, but we can repent and be saved. St. Paul teaches us, "I have heard you in the favored hour, and I have helped you in the day of salvation. Behold, the favored hour is now. And the day of salvation is today" (2 Cor. 6:2). Lastly, it is important to remember that Sunday is the first day of the week, and Monday is the second day of the week. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Please follow our Telegram group every day and share it with your friends: https://t.me/orthodoxQnAs
