Understanding our #Calling
Question፦ Thank you father! :) well since you brought up the topic of one’s calling I’ll go ahead & ask one of my questions related to that which was about discovering ones life calling / discovering our God given gift.
Answer፦ How did you come to discover your divine calling & how can we as believers discover the natural gift God has given to each of us to better serve our church community & find a fulfilling career where we thrive in.
Beloved one, Discovering one's divine calling is a journey of deep reflection, prayer, and engagement with the community and God's word. For many, including myself, the path to understanding our vocation unfolds over time, often through various experiences, challenges, and moments of clarity that God provides along the way.
In my own journey, persistent prayer, meditation on Scripture, and the counsel of wise spiritual elders were instrumental. The sense of calling emerged not as a sudden revelation but as a growing conviction nurtured by these practices and a deep desire to serve God and His people.
For believers seeking to discern their natural gifts and God-given vocation, I would offer the following guidance, rooted in the teachings and traditions of the Church:
1. Pray for Guidance: Consistently seek God’s direction in your life through prayer. Ask Him to reveal your gifts and how you can use them for His glory. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7).
2. Study Scripture: The Bible is replete with examples of individuals who discovered their callings through faith and obedience. Reflecting on these stories can offer insights into how God might be working in your own life.
3. Serve in Your Community: Often, our God-given talents are revealed through service. By participating in various church and community activities, you can identify what brings you joy and where you make the most impact.
4. Seek Godly Counsel: Consult with spiritual leaders, mentors, or elders within your church. Their wisdom and outside perspective can help you discern your gifts and how they might be used in service to the church and the world.
5. Reflect on Your Passions and Talents: Consider the activities that give you the most joy and fulfillment. Often, our God-given gifts align with our interests and talents. Reflect on how these can be applied in a career or ministry context.
6. Be Patient: Discerning your calling is a process that unfolds in God’s timing. Remain faithful and patient, knowing that He will reveal your path in due course.
As you seek to discover your vocation, remember that each believer's calling is unique, and every role within the body of Christ is valuable and needed. In finding and pursuing your divine calling, you not only find fulfillment but also contribute to the edification and growth of the church.
In what ways have you felt drawn to serve or noticed particular talents or passions that might be directed toward a specific calling?
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever, today and always.
May the blessings of the Holy Mother of God, the Virgin, and the Cross be upon us. Amen.
