    Arius a Presbyter Whose Name

Has Since Been Etched in Infamy

(Continued) 👆 Arius, a presbyter whose name has since been etched in infamy, dared to proclaim a Christ diminished, a Son created and not co-eternal with the Father. This was not merely a theological dispute but an affront to the very nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such teachings, left unchecked, threatened to rend asunder the very fabric of the Church. In the spirit of the apostles themselves, these venerable fathers, many scarred by the trials of persecution, gathered to reaffirm the truth of our faith. Emperor Constantine, a servant of God, provided a grand hall for their deliberations, humbling himself before the servants of the Lord. In this sacred space, they debated, prayed, and were guided by the Holy Spirit, crafting a creed that would stand as a bulwark against heresy. This Nicene Creed, a testament to their faith and unity, articulated the full divinity of Christ: "We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father." Through these words, they affirmed that Christ is not a created being but consubstantial with the Father, sharing the same divine essence. Furthermore, the council established canons for the governance of the Church, addressing issues from the ordination of clergy to the reconciliation of those who had lapsed in faith. These canons reflected a profound understanding of the human condition, offering guidance and discipline while upholding the mercy and grace of God. The Council of Nicaea stands as a testament to the Church's commitment to truth and unity. The creed formulated there did not merely address the controversies of the day but laid a foundation for all orthodox belief, a beacon of truth shining through the ages. As we reflect on the legacy of Nicaea, let us hold fast to the truth handed down by these holy fathers. Their teachings, rooted in the apostolic tradition, guide us in our journey towards the Kingdom of Heaven. In their wisdom, let us find our path; in their courage, our inspiration; and in their unity, our strength. To God be the glory, now and forever. Amen. May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every language that He has created, today and always. May the blessings of the Holy Mother of God, the Virgin, and the Cross be upon us. Amen. © John's Repentance Reach out to us on our social media platforms and share it with your friends: https://linktr.ee/johnsrepentance
