2nd / Arrogance
Pride is a behavior that originated from the devil himself. It is a devilish trait (1 Timothy 3:6). The devil, motivated by his pride, caused a division among the angels. The prophet Isaiah speaks of this pride leading to failure: "How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth" (Isaiah 14:12).
However, our Lord has humbled us and destroyed the pride that the devil raised in our hearts. He, being the Most High God, humbled Himself and lived a sinless human life. He washed the feet of His disciples, demonstrating the wisdom that overcomes pride, which is the work of the devil (John 13:4-17). In His teachings, He exhorted us to learn from His example of meekness and lowliness of heart, assuring us that we will find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:29).
3rd / Falsehood
Falsehood is also a trait that originated from the devil himself, and he is called the father of lies (John 8:44). His aim is to twist what is good and make it evil, what is sweet and make it bitter, and to pretend that lies are truth. He misled our first parents, Adam and Eve, with his lies (Genesis 3:4-5).
But the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ has shattered the false world that the devil created (John 14:16, 1 John 2:21, John 18:37).
4th/ Homicide
When Adam and his children were first created, they didn't know about death. However, the devil was envious of them, having lost his own paradise through pride and betrayal. He wanted to cause their downfall as well, so he taught Cain to kill Abel (Gen 4).
Murder began with Cain, and all the children of Adam have lived with the stain of bloodshed. However, Christ teaches us to lay down our lives for one another and to forgive those who do evil (Luke 23:34).
May the name of the Holy God be praised forever and ever in every tongue that He has created, today and always.
May the blessings of God's mother, the virgin, and the cross be upon us. Amen.
